Abstract

his study explores the political communication strategies implemented by the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) in mobilizing political enthusiasm among potential Muslim voters and Islamic leaders ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving party officials and Islamic figures. The findings reveal that the PDI Perjuangan DIY adopts a religious cultural communication strategy that integrates inclusive nationalism with local Islamic values. This approach is realized through religious activities, dialogical engagement with pesantren, and symbolic representation of tolerance in public communication. The use of Islamic leaders as moral and social opinion leaders strengthens the party’s credibility in Muslim communities. The study concludes that a hybrid political communication model linking ideological flexibility, religious accommodation, and media adaptation proves effective in sustaining political legitimacy in the dynamic political landscape of Yogyakarta
