Analisis Psikodiagnostik Prokrastinasi Akademik Kronis Akibat Career Indecision dalam Perspektif Sistem Keluarga: Studi Kasus pada Mahasiswa

The transition from secondary education to higher education demands a high degree of self-regulation and career maturity from students. However, systemic pressure from the family often hinders students’ process of self-differentiation in determining their career path, which subsequently manifests as academic difficulties. This study aims to comprehensively analyse the psychological roots of chronic academic delay and career uncertainty experienced by a student, identified as AM (aged 19), through a family systems psychodiagnostic approach. The research method employed a clinical case study utilising data triangulation techniques, comprising semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation using a behavioural checklist, quantitative measurement using an adapted version of the Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS), and systemic analysis through the mapping of a three-generation genogram. The results of the quantitative assessment indicated that AM exhibited a level of academic procrastination falling within the ‘High’ category, with an actual score of 72, characterised predominantly by neurotic anxiety and a fear of failure. Qualitative and systemic data revealed the phenomenon of intergenerational transmission of authoritarianism from the father figure, who imposed the choice of a Computer Science degree programme, whilst AM actually had an interest in the field of visual arts. A family structure characterised by enmeshment and a power imbalance led the mother to adopt a passive-submissive attitude, causing AM to develop a maladaptive coping mechanism in the form of online gaming for 10–12 hours a day as a form of passive-aggressive behaviour. Intervention recommendations were designed in an integrated manner through Individual Counselling based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Counselling to restructure parental expectations, and Career Guidance to facilitate an academic pivot
