Hidden KUA in Handling Early Marriage Cases

Abstract

The background of this research is that early marriage that is not timely can have a negative impact on couples who live a household life. Because of that, efforts are needed to deal with early marriage, so that the younger generation does not lose their youth, do not lose their rights as children and can be productive at a young age. The problem of this research is what is the role of KUA in handling cases of early marriage and what are the factors and causes of early marriage in Sorong Duum Islands. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as additional insight and can take a step towards making a decision to marry at a young age.

This research is a qualitative research, with the object of research being the heads of KUA and people who marry at a young age. Collecting data using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using the interactive cycle model proposed by Milles and Huberman, namely through the process of data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions.

The results of the study show (1) the role of the KUA in handling early marriage cases is that the KUA directs them to follow procedures directed to the religious court to obtain dispensation in handling cases of early marriage. (2) the factors and causes of early marriage are due to promiscuity and family factors which cause children to do things that are not desirable and cause pregnancy out of wedlock so that they are required to carry out the marriage
