Types of Manuscript

The Journal of Quality Assurance in Islamic Education (JQAIE)publishes scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Quality Assurance Islamic education at all levels of pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher, and professional education. The journal welcomes empirical, theoretical, methodological, and evidence-synthesis contributions relevant to its Aim and Scope.

The classification of article types adopted by JQAIE is developed with reference to established practices in educational publishing. All manuscripts must be original, scientifically rigorous, ethically conducted, relevant to the journal's scope, and prepared in accordance with JQAIE Author Guidelines and Publication Ethics. Manuscripts submitted to the journal are subject to editorial assessment and, where applicable, peer review.

1. Original Research Article

Original Research Articles report original and previously unpublished empirical research that makes a substantive contribution to Quality Assurance Islamic education at all levels of pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher, and professional education.

JQAIE welcomes Original Research Articles employing quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods approaches, including experimental, correlational, survey, longitudinal, cross-sectional, phenomenological, ethnographic, case-study, and other scientifically appropriate research designs.

An Original Research Article should generally include:

  1. Abstract and Keywords;
  2. Introduction;

  5. Discussion;
  6. Conclusion; and
  7. References.

Studies involving human participants must comply with applicable research ethics requirements, including informed consent and ethical approval where required.

2. Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Systematic Review articles provide a rigorous and transparent synthesis of existing research on a clearly formulated question relevant to the journal's scope.

This category includes systematic reviews, systematic reviews with meta-analysis, meta-analyses, scoping reviews, mapping reviews, and meta-syntheses, where appropriate.

Authors should clearly describe the search strategy, eligibility criteria, information sources, study-selection procedures, data extraction, synthesis methods, and assessment of methodological quality or risk of bias.

Systematic reviews should follow internationally recognized reporting standards appropriate to the study design, such as PRISMA, where applicable.

3. Review Article

Review Articles provide comprehensive, critical, and balanced analyses of established or rapidly developing topics in Quality Assurance Islamic education at all levels of pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher, and professional education.

A Review Article should go beyond a descriptive summary of previous publications. Authors are expected to critically synthesize existing knowledge, identify theoretical or empirical controversies, evaluate major developments, identify research gaps, and propose directions for future research.

Review Articles should generally contain:

  1. Abstract and Keywords;
  2. Introduction;
  3. Relevant thematic or conceptual subsections;
  4. Critical Discussion;
  5. Conclusion; and
  6. References.

4. Conceptual and Theoretical Article

Conceptual and Theoretical Articles develop, examine, integrate, or critically evaluate psychological concepts, theoretical frameworks, models, or propositions.

Such manuscripts should present a clear and original scholarly contribution rather than merely summarize existing literature. Authors should demonstrate the conceptual foundation of their arguments, critically engage with relevant scholarship, and clearly explain the theoretical or practical implications of the proposed framework.

Conceptual and Theoretical Articles may propose new hypotheses, conceptual models, theoretical integrations, interpretations, or critiques that can stimulate further empirical investigation.

5. Methods and Educational Measurement Article

Methods and educational measurement articles present significant methodological developments relevant to psychological and behavioral research.

These may include:

  • Organizational and program development, change, and improvement.
  • Educational testing and assessment programs.

  • Standards, reforms, accountability, accreditation, certification, and audit in education.
  • Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic Education.
  • Tools, criteria, and methods for examining or assuring quality.

For instrument adaptation and validation studies, authors should provide sufficient information regarding translation and cultural adaptation procedures, participants, statistical analyses, reliability, validity, and other relevant educational measurement evidence.

6. Brief Research Report

Brief Research Reports present original empirical research or significant preliminary findings in a concise format.

These manuscripts should maintain the same standards of scientific rigor, research ethics, transparency, and methodological quality expected of full Original Research Articles.

A Brief Research Report should generally include:

  1. Abstract and Keywords;
  2. Introduction;
  3. Methods;
  4. Results;
  5. Discussion and/or Conclusion; and
  6. References.

The shorter format should not be used to omit essential methodological information necessary for evaluating the validity and reproducibility of the research.

7. Perspective

Perspective Articles provide scholarly viewpoints on important, emerging, or developing issues in Islamic education measurement, quality assurance, quality education and evaluation.

These articles may discuss recent scientific developments, theoretical debates, methodological challenges, cultural issues, professional practices, or future directions in quality assurance science.

Perspectives should be evidence-based, academically balanced, properly referenced, and clearly distinguish scholarly interpretation from established empirical findings.
